Last Friday, July 20, around 25 attorneys, secretaries, IT and litigation support members from the DLA Piper Baltimore office hosted the second annual Horizon Day Camp Carnival, a fun and festive highlight at the summer camp that lets children battling cancer have a safe summer camp experience. Funded by local donors, Horizon Day Camp’s team of medical staff enable the kids and their siblings to enjoy all the activities of a day camp, while providing a support system for the children’s families. For the Carnival, DLA Piper volunteers dressed up as cartoon characters and hosted sing-alongs for the campers, proving even lawyers know how to appreciate bounce houses, face painting, goodie bags, and pizza.
This is one of several community engagement initiatives the DLA Piper Baltimore Cares Committee has organized in the past two years, including collecting holiday gifts for local children and gathering more than 300 care packages for those less fortunate this past winter. The committee is just one of the ways DLA Piper employees actively participate in the community and make a positive difference where they live and work.
