Omega Healthcare Investors Inc, (NYSE:OHI) is a Maryland corporation incorporated on March 31, 1992. OHI is a real estate investment trust with internal management. OHI invests in income-producing healthcare facilities, mainly long-term care facilities located in the United States and United Kingdom. OHI provides lease or mortgage financing primarily to operators of skilled nursing facilities. To a lesser extent, OHI also provides such services to assisted living facilities, independent living facilities and rehabilitation and acute care facilities.
OHI has grown its dividend yearly for the last 14 years, even during the Great Recession. Its current dividend of $2.40 is 12 cents higher than what it paid out in 2015. I have held it for several years and it is one of my larger holdings, just under 4% of my IRA portfolio. With the price declining almost 20% over the last 3 months, I think there is an opportunity to pick it up at a bargain.
