Clapp Communications, a public relations and marketing communications agency based in Baltimore, took home the top award in the “External Publication” category at PR News’ 2016 Platinum PR Awards for its composition of Baltimore City Fraternal Order of Police ’s (FOP) After Action Review report. Clapp Communications also received an honorable mention award in the Crisis Management category for public relations on behalf of FOP during the Baltimore riots.

With the goal of reviewing the actions of top police officials during the 2015 Baltimore riots, Clapp Communications put together the report and released it at a press conference attended by local and national media. The report ensured the Police Commissioner faced accountability for his lack of cooperation with the FOP and its members before, during and after the compilation of the report.

“I am so proud to win such an important award on a national scale,” said Barb Clapp, President and CEO of Clapp Communications. “We are the boutique agency that could and does! Of course I know – and our clients know – the great work our team does here each day and it is just an honor to be recognized for it. Clapp Communications beat the biggest PR firms in the nation for the award.”

The Platinum PR Awards ceremony was held on October, 19, 2016 at the Marriott Marquis in New York City and recognized the year’s most outstanding communicators, initiatives and organizations in the competitive PR arena.
