Talley H-S Kovacs

Pessin Katz Law is pleased to announce that Attorney Talley H-S Kovacs is now serving on the United Way of Central Maryland’s Community Partnership Board of Baltimore City and has also recently joined the Executive Committee for the Lawyers’ Campaign Against Hunger.

United Way is helping kids stay in school, ensuring neighbors in need have access to healthy food and healthcare, and helping people find jobs and a safe place to call home. Local leaders like Ms. Kovacs volunteer on United Way of Central Maryland’s Community Partnership Board of Baltimore City to ensure specific community needs are addressed and every dollar is invested for maximum impact.

United Way’s family stability and homelessness prevention programs in Baltimore City lift families out of crisis and help them get on the path to financial stability. One example includes a shelter diversion program in Baltimore City, in partnership with St. Vincent de Paul of Baltimore, Associated Catholic Charities and Project PLASE.

The Lawyers’ Campaign Against Hunger was founded 28 years ago by a group of Maryland attorneys in response to the ABA’s resolution declaring a “fundamental right to be free from hunger.” Since that inception the group has raised more than 5 million dollars to support Maryland households struggling with hunger.  The Maryland Food Bank benefits directly from the campaign, relying heavily on the funding to provide staple groceries and fresh produce to food-insecure communities statewide.

Ms. Kovacs is an Associate with the firm’s General Litigation Group.  Her practice includes complex civil litigation, insurance law, and commercial litigation. Representative matters involve insurance coverage litigation for commercial claims, homeowner claims, and personal automobile claims, defense of professional liability claims, contractual indemnity disputes, insurance fraud and lack of good faith claims, eminent domain, and business owner disputes. Ms. Kovacs enjoys the creativity and collaboration involved with solving problems for her clients.

Ms. Kovacs graduated from St. John’s College in Annapolis, Maryland in 2001. She received her law degree, cum laude, from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law contemporaneously with an MBA from the University of Baltimore / Towson University, Merrick School of Business. Ms. Kovacs clerked for the Honorable Clayton Greene, Jr. on the Maryland Court of Appeals prior to entering private practice with PK Law, PA.

Prior to attending graduate school, Ms. Kovacs completed a culinary apprenticeship in the Gascony region of France, worked in the culinary profession in Portland, Oregon and Annapolis, Maryland. She also has prior work experience in public policy, environmental regulation, homeland security, public health, venture capital, and corporate marketing.

We are proud of Talley and are honored to have her a part of our team.
