Offit Kurman to Host Workshop on 2016 Employment Law Changes and What Lies Ahead in 2017

8/1/16

Howard Kurman and Laura Rubenstein

The year has seen revolutionary changes in labor and employment law. Employers have been faced with intrusive, and sometimes incomprehensible, scrutiny and enforcement by federal government agencies charged with monitoring the workplace – specifically the EEOC, the DOL, the NLRB and the OFCCP.

As a result of these changes, experienced labor and employment attorneys Howard Kurman and Laura Rubenstein are hosting a workshop to review 2016’s employment law modifications and to discuss what is to come in 2017. We invite you to join us on Tuesday, November 15th at The Hotel at Arundel Preserve from 8:00 – 11:00 AM, for this comprehensive and interactive workshop, which will cover the following issues and topics:

(1) Developments during 2016 that have created additional possible liability for employers arising out of actions taken by Obama-controlled administrative agencies;

(2) Significant trends in workplace investigations; focus on gender, disability, classifications, wage/hour laws and attention by the NLRB on non-union employees, all of which pose risk for the unwary employers as the new year looms;

(3) Practical suggestions for navigating the dangerous waters posed by a continuing focus on the innovative expansion of employee rights trumpeted by various administrative agencies charged with enforcing the major workplace laws.

At the conclusion of this workshop, participants should expect to be well armed to ascertain the most current legal threats to their workplace and more important, how to proactively reduce such threats in the coming new year.
