Correct Rx Pharmacy Services Promotes Dr. Valerie D. Barnes to VP of Clinical Programs & Pharmacoeconomics

Correct Rx Pharmacy Services announced that Dr. Valerie D. Barnes is promoted to Vice President of Clinical Programs & Pharmacoeconomics for Correct Rx Pharmacy Services, Inc. effective July 1, 2016.

Dr. Barnes reports directly to CEO Dr. Ellen H. Yankellow.

Dr. Barnes joined Correct Rx as Senior Clinical Pharmacist in 2009. In 2011 she completed her Master of Science in Pharmaceutical Outcomes and Policy in Applied Pharmacoeconomics from the University of Florida. She also received her Board Certification as a Pharmacotherapy Specialist in 2013. Dr. Barnes applies her knowledge of pharmacoeconomic principles to improve patient outcomes and reduce healthcare costs. She also possesses extensive experience as a consultant pharmacist and disease state management pharmacist specializing in the areas of infectious and cardiovascular disease states.

“Dr. Barnes’ past positions have afforded her a strong background in the areas of customer service, quality assurance, medication utilization evaluations and budget forecasting and analysis of medication costs,” said CEO Dr. Ellen H. Yankellow. “She acts as a drug information resource for the customers she serves and had the opportunity to present cost-modeling and clinical information at several national conferences.”

“In her new role Dr. Barnes will be responsible for managing our statewide clinical pharmacy programs, providing pharmacoeconomics evaluations to inform preferred medication use, supporting our clinical management team regarding medication therapy management as well as conducting Pharmacy and Therapeutics meetings. I am pleased to announce Dr. Barnes’ well deserved promotion to Vice President of Clinical Programs & Pharmacoeconomics.”
