Hogan Undoes 46 Years of Obsolete Executive Orders

Sometimes it’s not so much what you do as governor; it’s what you undo.

As reported in the Baltimore Business Journal, on Tuesday Gov. Larry Hogan issued an executive order rescinding 72 extant executive orders. That’s more than a third of all executive orders in the Code of Maryland Regulations. (That’s also a little like wishing for fewer wishes.)

Hogan’s order justified the action as necessary to avoid “confusion in state government” and the waste of resources by “businesses and citizens who must determine their effect.”
