William Roberts Joins KCI as Chief Administrative Officer

KCI Technologies Inc., a multi-disciplined engineering firm with offices throughout the United States, is pleased to announce that William R. Roberts has joined the firm as Chief Administrative Officer. His responsibilities in this new role include overseeing administrative practices, facilitating integration during acquisitions and participating in top-level decision making. He will be instrumental in defining the position and further developing the organization.

Bill’s career spans more than four decades beginning with a small telecommunications company (C&P Telephone Co) that later became Verizon. Moving from a business office manager position to increasingly higher executive roles, he gained experience working in marketing, consumer affairs, operations, public policy and government relations. As president and CEO of the Mid-Atlantic region, Bill was responsible for overseeing all Verizon operations, including more than 15,000 employees throughout Maryland and the District of Columbia.

With a passion for community service, Bill has been involved on numerous boards for organizations and institutions that focus their efforts on local impact, including the University of Maryland University College (UMUC) Ventures, Greenspring Financial Insurance Limited, Medstar Health, the Maryland Chamber of Commerce, the National Aquarium, the Baltimore branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, the Greater Baltimore Committee, the Greater Washington Board of Trade, Kennedy Krieger Institute, Partners in Education, Morgan State University Board of Regents and Federal City Council.

Bill earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration/marketing from Morgan State University and completed graduate studies in industrial engineering at Eastern Michigan University and marketing/management at Howard University. He also holds honorary doctorates in public service and humane letters from UMUC and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, respectively. As an advocate for continuous learning, Bill has participated in leadership development programs at multiple institutions. He is a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma International Honor Society, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., and Sigma Pi Phi Beta Mu Boule. He was named the Loyola University Sellinger School of Business 2004 Business Leader of the Year and was inducted into the Maryland Chamber of Commerce Business Hall of Fame in 2012.
