UHY LLP is pleased to announce the promotion of Nancy Johnson and Katsiaryna “Kate” Vasiliev to Partners. Both women will also serve as Managing Directors of UHY Advisors Mid-Atlantic MD, Inc. They are based in UHY’s Columbia, Md., office.

Johnson is a leading member of the audit and assurance practice with over 30 years of experience. Vasiliev is a leader in both the attestation and tax practice, with significant experience in audits and multi-state tax preparation.

Johnson has over 30 years of audit and tax experience focusing on nonprofits, including trade associations, charities, member organizations, educational institutions, labor unions, religious organizations as well as employee benefits plans. She has extensive audit experience, including Single Audits under OMB Uniform Guidance and experience with nonprofit information returns. She regularly presents to Audit Committees and Board of Directors and advises nonprofits on accounting topics and internal controls. Johnson received her B.S. in Business Administration in Accountancy from Auburn University and is a licensed CPA in the state of Maryland and in Washington D.C.

Vasiliev focuses on managing audits, reviews, compilations, and tax returns for numerous clients, including real estate developers, investors, wholesalers, contractors, and property managers, as well as charities and foundations. She keeps abreast of financial rules that pertain to both for-profit entities and non-profit organizations and provides thorough and precise analysis of various types of financial documents. Vasiliev has significant experience with the preparation of large, multi-state individual, partnership, and S-corporation returns. Her knowledge in “nexus” or “business presence” tax issues allows her to provide clients with insightful tax compliance advice and analysis. She received her B.S. and her M.S. in Business Economics and Management, from BIP Institute of Law, and is a licensed CPA in the state of Maryland. Vasiliev is fluent in Russian.
