Baltimore Leadership School for Young Women Appoints Carrie Stickel as Director of Development

Baltimore Leadership School for Young Women (BLSYW), an all-girls college preparatory public charter school serving young women residing in Baltimore, announced today the hiring of Carrie Stickel as director of development.

Since joining the staff in August 2020 as director of development, Stickel has focused on building a strategic fundraising program that inspires broad engagement and sustained philanthropic investment to support the school. Stickel is responsible for engaging with all stakeholders, including BLSYW students, families, alumnae, faculty, board of directors, donors and the Baltimore community to increase and sustain financial support.

"Carrie brings a wealth of experience in running successful development programs, a commitment to the Baltimore community and values that align with the school’s mission. We are delighted to have her join the BLSYW community,” said Chevonne Hall-Smith, chief executive officer of BLSYW.

Stickel brings 18 years of experience as a fundraising professional at area educational institutions to her role at BLSYW. Before joining BLSYW, she spent more than three years as the director of alumnae leadership at Garrison Forest School, and in several fundraising roles at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and Johns Hopkins University. Stickel has also served as adjunct faculty at Anne Arundel Community College and the Community College of Baltimore County teaching advanced writing to adult learners.

Stickel resides in Baltimore City and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Westminster College, as well as a Master of Liberal Arts degree from Johns Hopkins University.

The Baltimore Leadership School for Young Women (BLSYW) is an all-girls, college preparatory public charter school serving young women residing in Baltimore since 2009.
