Contrella will continue to source promising investment opportunities and provide strategic support to JMI’s portfolio companies, while Schmitt will expand her leadership of JMI’s finance and accounting functions. Concurrent with Schmitt’s promotion, Randy Guttman has become General Partner, Head of Operations, from his most recent title of General Partner & CFO. Contrella, Schmitt and Guttman are all based in Baltimore.

Larry Contrella joined JMI in 2010 and most recently served as a Principal at the firm. His current investments include Benevity, Bloomerang, Higher Logic, RainFocus, and Raptor Technologies, while his past investment experience includes automotiveMastermind (acquired by IHS Markit), Axeda (acquired by PTC), CoreHR (acquired by The Access Group) and EMS Software (acquired by Accruent), among others. Prior to joining JMI, Contrella was an investment banking analyst in the multi-industries group at Merrill Lynch & Co. He received a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.

Maggie Schmitt joined JMI in 2009 and most recently served as a Principal, Finance at the firm. Prior to joining JMI, Schmitt was an auditor in the audit and enterprise risk services practice at Deloitte & Touche. She received a B.S. in Accounting and Information Systems from the Pamplin College of Business at Virginia Tech. Schmitt is a certified public accountant.
