UHY LLP Hosts Golf Prep Series Event

Exemptions awarded into AJGA’s Junior Championship

In conjunction with UHY’s sponsorship of the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA), through which UHY serves as the title or presenting sponsor of seven AJGA Championships throughout the U.S., the UHY Prep Series – DC was held July 28-29 at Turf Valley Resort in Ellicott City, Md. The top two girls and boys earned exemptions to the UHY / The First Tee of Greater Baltimore Junior Championship, which will be held at the Hillendale Country Club in Phoenix, Md., on August 10-13, or the Imperial Headwear Junior Classic,which will be held at the DuPont Country Club in Wilmington, Del., on August 3-6.

In all, over 20 juniors competed in the Prep Series event. Those who earned exemptions included:

  • Girls winner: Kayleigh Zeman, Silver Spring, Md.
  • Girls runner-up: Yue Xu, Green Township, N.J.
  • Boys winner: Christian Matt, Springhouse, Pa.
  • Boys runner-up: Dylan Allen, Severn, Md.


“UHY is happy we can provide this competitive opportunity for boys and girls to earn a coveted spot in an AJGA event in spite of the current challenges presented by the coronavirus pandemic,” said Harold Mohn, regional managing partner for UHY LLP’s Mid-Atlantic office located in Columbia.

“Thanks to the support of UHY we are able to provide more than 150 playing opportunities to junior golfers across the country,” said AJGA Tournament Director David McCaskill. “We are excited to add four incredible junior golfers to our already competitive fields at Hillendale Country Club and DuPont Country Club through the UHY Prep Series.”

Both Kayleigh and Christian will join other junior golfers ages 12-19 representing 12 states, Canada, China and Mexicoon the course August 10-13. This is UHY’s second year serving as the title sponsor of the AJGA’s Baltimore Junior Championship. The AJGA will conduct a qualifier in the morning on Monday, August 10, with 78 juniors competing for the remaining qualifying spots into the championship. Championship play will then be held August 11-13 consisting of 54 holes of stroke play.

The AJGA has been conducting tournaments for more than 40 years to aid the growth and development of young men and women who aspire to earn college golf scholarships through competitive junior golf.
