SC&H Group, a nationally recognized management consulting, audit, and tax firm, announced today that Megan DeGroat, Principal in its Audit Services practice, has been named a “2018 Leading Woman” by The Daily Record.

The Daily Record’s Leading Women awards honor 52 women who are 40 years of age or younger for the accomplishments in their careers. A panel of previous Top 100 Women and Leading Women winners selected the honorees based on their professional experience, community involvement, and commitment to inspiring change.

“It is a privilege to be recognized among women who are making an impact in the community and in their workplace,” DeGroat said. “Working with SC&H Group for more than 12 years has given me many opportunities to grow professionally as well as positively impact the Maryland community.”

The Daily Record launched the Leading Women awards in 2010 to recognize the next generation of Maryland’s women leaders.

“Leading Women are making an incredible impact on their professions. In addition, they share a relentless commitment to inspiring change and are active volunteers and leaders in their communities,” said Suzanne Fischer-Huettneer, publisher of The Daily Record. “They are extremely accomplished, and their early success is just a prelude to the future. The Daily Record is pleased to honor them.”

As a Principal at SC&H Group DeGroat is responsible for overseeing financial statement audits and employee benefit plan audits.

“Megan has assisted many of our professional staff, and the organizations for which she volunteers, in maximizing their success by providing timely and candid advice and guidance,”,” said Mike Young, Director of SC&H Group’s Audit Services team. “Her impressive work ethic transcends throughout the office and in her work with clients. We are proud to see Megan receive this award as she continuously goes above and beyond to ensure that everyone has an opportunity for success.”

DeGroat is a member of the Board of Directors of There Goes My Hero, an organization that provides hope and support to those impacted by blood cancer by adding people to the bone marrow registry. DeGroat also serves on the Board of Directors and finance committee for Pathfinders for Autism. She graduated from Towson University in 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Accounting.
