University of Maryland Community Medical Group (UM CMG) announces that Michele Wilson, MBA, MHA, has been named Chief Operating Officer of the University of Maryland Medical System-owned network of more than 300 primary care physicians, specialists and advanced practice clinicians. Wilson has been a member of the UM CMG leadership team since its inception in 2015, serving as vice president of operations for the Southern Region, which includes the Eastern Shore, Anne Arundel and Charles counties and Baltimore City.

Prior to joining UM CMG, Wilson was vice president of physician services at UM Shore Regional Health (UM SRH), where her responsibilities included management of employed physician practices in five counties; strategic project management; planning for the expansion of services and utilization at UM Shore Medical Pavilion at Queenstown; operations related to the inclusion of new physician practices as they joined UM Shore Regional Health; development of the Convenient Care Center in Denton and the development of a quality program for UM Shore Medical Group. She was also instrumental in recent projects such as the openings of UM Shore Medical Pavilions at Dorchester and Easton.

Prior to joining UM Shore Regional Health, Wilson was vice president for practice management and network development at St. Francis Hospital/Catholic Health East in Wilmington, Delaware. She also held director-level positions at Christiana Care Health System and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Delaware. Wilson has more than 30 years of experience in the health care industry. She is an executive fellow of the Health Advisory Board in Washington, D.C., and a Kellogg Executive Fellow of Northwestern University, and is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and the National Medical Group Management Association, and a graduate of the Robert E. Smith Health Care Executive Program sponsored by University of Maryland Medical System.
