Hamilton Turner, Ph.D.,

BALTIMORE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--OptioLabs, a security insight solution provider for the mobile enterprise, today announced the promotion of Hamilton Turner, Ph.D., to Chief Technology Officer. Turner’s experience, including his doctoral work at Virginia Tech related to technologies that optimize and secure mobile cloud systems, has played a critical role in the development of OptioLabs’ innovative security products that address the need for adaptive, enterprise-controlled policies that ensure data protection and provide a full-featured user experience.

Tasked with expanding and refining the company’s vision and strategy, Turner’s new responsibilities as CTO include: ensuring cross-team consistency for technology road maps, hands-on management of top priority projects, and bringing internal technology into OptioLabs’ patent portfolio. Under Turner’s leadership, OptioLabs’ technologies will continue to secure mobile devices at a fundamental level for leading mobile OEMs, wireless carriers, enterprise and government organizations.

“I am thrilled that Hamilton accepted this role, and it will be a pleasure to continue working with him in this new capacity,” says OptioLabs CEO, Gregg Smith. “I am confident that as CTO, Hamilton will have a significant impact on growing and innovating OptioLabs’ technology, and expanding our market reach.”

Turner’s expertise is based on significant experience with mobile development, mobile security, network applications, distributed applications, and data processing. His work as an initial creator of GhostBox, a technology for securing Android mobile devices in highly sensitive environments, augmented OptioLabs’ ability to provide enterprise-level mobile security for data and transactions against malware of all kinds in a globally connected economy. Still early in his career, Turner has already become a respected leader among Android security professionals.

“It has been an incredible experience building a career with OptioLabs, and I am very excited to take on this new responsibility as CTO,” says Turner. “I strongly believe in OptioLabs’ vision of a secure mobile environment, and look forward to my continued role in securing even more enterprises and industries with our game-changing technology.”

Turner joined OptioLabs in 2012, and after earning his doctorate in Computer Engineering with a specialization in security of mobile cloud computing from Virginia Polytechnic Institute in 2014, was named OptioLabs’ Director of Malware Research, and later, Senior Director of Research and Engineering. In these roles, Turner led OptioLabs’ research and development of OptioCore, and was responsible for analyzing security announcements, managing the incubation of new products, and providing technical insight for potential business partnerships or acquisitions.
