James Maravetz
Growing video agency looks to former Saatchi & Saatchi Creative Director to lead creative efforts and energize the firm’s growth, locally and nationally
Storyfarm, a Baltimore-
Maravetz will be responsible for leading the company’s creative efforts in all aspects of video production. Storyfarm will also look to Maravetz to elevate the firm’s conceptual content, and to expand clientele regionally and nationally.
“We considered more than 250 people from all over the country, and James’ extraordinary talent set him apart.” said John Sherman, Storyfarm’s Chief Executive Officer. “If agencies were universities, his resume reads Harvard, Princeton and Yale. But it was James’ passion for Baltimore and vision for helping us build Storyfarm that really sealed the deal.”
With nearly a decade of agency experience in New York, Miami and Los Angeles, Maravetz has lead a number of creative departments in the development of advertising campaigns for brands such as Miller Lite, Under Armour, Xerox, LG, Vitamin Water and MetLife.
“James will be able to apply his creativity, honed with these national, well-known brands, to regional and local businesses in our own backyard. We’ll also be looking beyond the region, increasing our work with retail brands,” added Sherman.
Prior to joining the Storyfarm team, Maravetz worked as a Freelance Copywriter and Creative Director for a number of big-name advertising agencies nationwide, including Droga5, J. Walter Thompson, Martin Agency, Captain Worldwide and Mekanism.
Maravetz grew up in Howard County and graduated from the University of Maryland College Park with a B.F.A. in writing. “I jumped at the opportunity to come home to Baltimore,” said Maravetz. “It’s a place I take great pride in. This city is full of young artists with a creative community that’s on the verge of exploding.”
“This is in many ways my dream job,” he continued. “Storyfarm is an incredibly talented local shop with a dedicated and focused team. I look forward to helping build Storyfarm to compete at a national level. It’s really still the wild west out there, we can become anything we want to be.”
