Dr. Erica Bernfeld
Katzen Eye Group, Maryland’s largest private eye care practice, announced that board certified ophthalmologist, Dr. Erica Bernfeld, has joined the practice as its new corneal specialist and cataract surgeon. She will also provide general ophthalmology services.
Dr. Bernfeld comes to Katzen from Select Eye Care in Towson, where she worked in cornea and general ophthalmology. Prior to that, Dr. Bernfeld worked at Kaiser Permanente at Largo Medical Center for three years and Columbia Eye Associates in Washington, D.C. for three years. While in D.C., Dr. Bernfeld also supervised ophthalmology residents in clinic and staffed resident surgical cases at Washington Hospital Center.
A member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology since 2005, Dr. Bernfeld graduated from Temple University School of Medicine with a doctor of medicine in 2004. She completed her residency in ophthalmology at Georgetown University Hospital and Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. and her Fellowship in Cornea, Anterior Segment and Refractive Surgery at the Wilmer Eye Institute of Johns Hopkins Hospital. She is the assistant editor of Eyewiki Cornea Division and has served as a volunteer surgeon on annual medical mission trips to the Dominican Republic.
A resident of Towson, Dr. Bernfeld will see patients in the Bel Air offices of Katzen Eye Group.
