Lee & Associates Maryland, a fully-integrated commercial real estate brokerage and management firm, has brokered a 130,000 square foot lease with Samaritan’s Purse International Relief within 1650 Union Avenue in Baltimore City. Bill Harrison, Senior Vice President, Lee & Associates, represented the tenant in this transaction. The not-for-profit organization will utilize the warehouse, owned by Himmelreich Associates, as a processing center for its annual Operation Christmas Child project on a temporary basis.
Each year, Operation Christmas Child leases space in the Baltimore metropolitan region to receive, process and ship shoebox gifts to children in need. Thousands of volunteers from across the country descend upon similar warehouses each year to process “shoeboxes” that contain toys and gift items, as well as a personalized note of encouragement, that are later sent around the world. Started in 1993 and now operating worldwide, more than 178 million packages have been delivered, and it is considered the largest Christmas project of its kind.
