B’More Clubhouse, a Baltimore-based nonprofit organization, which empowers adults living with mental illness to lead meaningful and productive lives of their choice in the community, today announced that it has purchased a historic firehouse in the Mount Vernon neighborhood of Baltimore to serve as its new headquarters. The building, located at 831 North Calvert Street, was most recently utilized as a restaurant and brewpub. The organization aims to move to its new headquarters from its present location at 9 East Franklin Street in the spring of 2021.

The new building will allow the organization to expand its culinary program with a commercial kitchen already installed and add a horticulture program with indoor gardening on the second floor. The larger space will allow B’More Clubhouse to increase the number of people served by 50%.

“Moving into this historic firehouse will mark the start of a new and exciting chapter of B’More Clubhouse. This new space will allow us to serve more individuals in our community living with the effects of mental illness, and will serve as an extraordinary example of a world-class Clubhouse that we expect with inspire the growth of more Clubhouses in other parts of Maryland,” said Jason Woody, Executive Director of B’More Clubhouse. “I want to thank our supporters, staff, and most importantly our members, for making B’More Clubhouse the amazing community that it is. We are so excited to start this new chapter with them.”
