Howard Bank announced today that Wendy Krouse, Vice President, Commercial Banker in Howard County, Maryland, has been appointed to the Board of Directors for the Community Foundation of Howard County.

The Community Foundation of Howard County is a pillar of Howard County’s non-profit sector. It not only provides grants and scholarships for education and the arts, but also provides critical support for Howard County’s most vulnerable community members. Importantly, the Community Foundation also promotes other non-profit organizations by helping donors learn more about local organizations addressing issues about which they are passionate or in which they are interested.

“We are so proud of Wendy for being elected to the Board for the Community Foundation of Howard County,” said Mary Ann Scully, Chairman and CEO of Howard Bank. “The Foundation plays a unique role in meeting the needs of so many not for profits, facilitating discussions between local donors and those in need, and growing the reach of philanthropy in the county where Howard Bank was born.”

“I joined the Community Foundation of Howard County’s Board of Directors because I believe in its mission—a mission that is coextensive with Howard Bank’s mission, striving to make Howard County a better place to live and work,” said Wendy Krouse. She added, "I know it will be a wonderful partnership given the Foundation is a ‘Community Board’ and Howard Bank is a ‘Community Bank’ with roots originating in Howard County. The organizations complement each other perfectly.”

Scully added, “Wendy’s own commitment to the Howard County community is perfectly matched with the Foundation and she will be a great addition to the board. Through these volunteer leadership opportunities, we know that Wendy, as well as Howard Bank, will now have a greater opportunity to positively impact the lives of Howard County residents.”

Krouse explained, “I live and work in Howard County. It is my home and my family’s home. I believe I am obligated to improve our community—a community that has provided me with so much. The Community Foundation of Howard County has a deep understanding of the county’s economic, social, and cultural needs, helping donors understand the community’s greatest challenges and identifying the most impactful ways to give back through charitable causes.”

Wendy joined Howard Bank in 2010. As a commercial banker, she advises numerous non-profits and commercial businesses on their banking needs. Before becoming a Commercial Banker, she managed Howard Bank’s Commercial Construction Loan Administration Department and served as a Talent Acquisition Specialist in Human Resources. Wendy started her banking career in Commercial Real Estate at M&T Bank (formerly Allfirst Bank).

Beyond her work with the Foundation, Wendy Krouse is a board member for the Central Maryland Chamber of Commerce. She graduated from Towson University with a bachelor’s degree.
