Family-Owned Bagel Shop to Open 5th and Largest Maryland Location
THB Bagelry + Deli (formerly Towson Hot Bagels), winner of multiple “Best of Baltimore” awards for its authentic bagels and deli sandwiches, announced today that it will officially open its new Columbia location on Thursday, November 19. This will be the fifth THB to open in Maryland and the largest location to date, with seating for up to 74 customers.
The new THB will be located at 6250 Columbia Crossing Circle in Columbia, which is part of the Columbia Crossing shopping center. THB Columbia will include the same beloved menu offerings as all THB locations, including freshly made New York-style bagels, coffee, smoothies, deli sandwiches, salads and more. The newest THB location will debut four new menu items that will be exclusive to the Columbia store until the end of 2020: honey walnut cream cheese, jalapeno cream cheese, the Avo-Mozz Panini and the Fresh N Green salad.
“We are thrilled to be opening our new location in Columbia and bring our signature bagels to the community,” said Tony Scotto, Owner and CEO of THB Bagelry & Deli. “Columbia is very special to the THB family because we were welcomed here when we first came to the United States through our previous restaurant, Strapazza. We are excited to return to this wonderful community through our newest THB location.”
New and unique to the Columbia location, THB worked closely with the award-winning Italian architect, design and communication firm MANAURINO, based out of Naples, Italy. MANAURINO designed the interior of the new location, and much of the new location’s furniture was imported from Italy to match the design and aesthetic.
Since 2008, THB has been family-owned and operated by the Scotto family which includes Tony Scotto (CEO, Co-Owner), Ciro Scotto (Director of Real Estate, Co-Owner), Oriana Scotto (CFO, Co-Owner) and Gennaro DiMeo (Director of Quality Assurance, Co-Owner). The Scotto family, originally from Italy, have grown THB from the original Towson location that had 15 seats, to five locations in the Baltimore metro, including Canton, Timonium, and Charles Village. A sixth location in Owings Mills is slated to open in 2021. The Scotto family has roots in Columbia as they previously owned the Italian restaurant Strapazza, also located in Columbia.
Grand Opening Ceremony and Komen Maryland Check Presentation
THB will celebrate the grand opening on November 19 with an official ribbon cutting ceremony starting at 10 a.m. that will include a ceremonial check presentation to Komen Maryland. In October, THB teamed up with Komen and raised more than $4,000 for the Susan G. Komen Foundation through the sales of specialty pink bagels and catering bagel boxes. THB also donated more than 1,200 bagels to local cancer centers throughout Maryland.
Safety Measures
The Columbia THB will include the enhanced safety measures implemented by the THB team at all locations across Maryland due to the COVID-19 pandemic, including in-store online kiosks to ensure contactless ordering and floor markers for social distancing. THB Columbia is also following Howard County guidelines so there will be limited indoor seating. Masks and social distancing will be required in-store.
“We highly encourage all Columbia bagel fans to download the myTHB app for the quickest, easiest and safest way to order from the new Columbia location,” said Tim Warfield, Lead Brand & Strategic Marketing at THB. “The myTHB app is a great way to earn rewards on your purchases and allows users to order ahead of time for contactless pick-up. All new users will also receive a free coffee or fountain drink with first app purchase.”
