Donte Johnson, general manager of the award-winning Hotel Revival, a Joie de Vivre hotel located in the heart of Baltimore’s historic Mount Vernon neighborhood, was recently appointed to the board of directors for the Mount Vernon Place Conservancy, a non-profit organization that, in partnership with the City of Baltimore, is charged with restoring, maintaining, and programming the Washington Monument and surrounding park squares of Mount Vernon Place—a National Historic Landmark District.

Johnson will join representatives from other organizations on Mount Vernon Place and community leaders committed to the success of this unique urban space in Baltimore.

As general manager for Hotel Revival, Johnson oversees and executes commercial strategy and hotel and property operations, including staff management, guest satisfaction and community relations. Since joining the hotel team in 2019, Johnson has developed and fostered a mission focused on social impact, working with his team and local organizations and leaders to support both the community and a variety of philanthropic efforts. Most recently, Johnson and his team orchestrated free weekly lunch and produce distributions to support the those in need during the pandemic. He also offered the hotel’s first-floor restaurant space and kitchen to local small food businesses so they could prepare and conduct carry-out through the hotel’s valet lane while the state was shutdown.

“The health and wellness of the community requires collaboration and buy in from many,” said Johnson. “I am all in and look forward to offering my skillset and expertise to support the organization and the betterment of Mount Vernon Place.”

Prior to Hotel Revival, Johnson served as both director and general manager of the Riggs Hotel Washington, D.C., and before that, he held several positions at a number of Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants throughout the country.

Johnson served on the board of directors for the Hotel Association of Washington, D.C., and on the advisory boards of Hospitality High School, the Hospitality Outreach Pathways to Employment (HOPE) Program, and the Mayor’s Workforce Investment Council. In 2011, he was named to the Washington Business Journal's highly coveted "Top 40 Under 40" list, an honor that recognizes standouts in the industry who have also made an impact serving the Greater Washington community, and received the Washington D.C. Mayor’s Award for Environmental Excellence. Johnson graduated from Saint Peter’s University in New Jersey with a bachelor’s in communications.

The Mount Vernon Place Conservancy was formed in 2008 to enter into a partnership with the City of Baltimore to restore, maintain, and manage the Washington Monument and the park squares of Mount Vernon Place—a National Historic Landmark District.
