Owner Moshe Mimoun mastered his craft growing up and working in Paris, France

Authentic French bakery Croustille Café (croustille means “crunchy” in French) is now open at Pikesville Shopping Center, a project of Hill Management Services, Inc. Owner Moshe Mimoun, who mastered his craft growing up and working in Paris, France, moved to the United States in 2018 and searched extensively for suitable space in Baltimore County that was underserved in this restaurant category. He signed a lease for 3,800 square feet of space at the center located at the intersection of Reisterstown Road and McHenry Avenue. Ashley Zito of Hill Management Services represented the landlord and Benjamin Ouazana of Keller Williams Realty represented the tenant in this transaction.

Croustille Café specializes in freshly baked breads, pastries and other goods with all items baked on-premises on a daily basis, including authentic baguettes, French breads and loaves, Danish, fruit-filled brioche and turnovers, strudel, biscotti, madeleines, tarts and French-style cookies. Other specialties include crepes and Gaufres French Waffles with custom-made toppings.

The café section of the space will serve breakfast and lunch with a focus on bagels with toppings, overstuffed sandwiches, custom-made-salads and store made ice cream. All bagels will also be baked in-house to ensure the integrity and quality of the product.

“That section of Reisterstown Road is extremely pedestrian friendly with many businesses and residents located within walking distance, and our bakery and café will become a central gathering spot for both local residents and businesspeople,” explained Mimoun.

Pikesville Shopping Centeris anchored by Staples and features tenants such as Dollar City and the United States Post Office. It is located less than two miles from the Baltimore Beltway (Interstate 695). Featuring roadside visibility from Reisterstown Road, nearly 15,000 vehicles pass the center on a daily basis, with approximately 45,000 households contained within a three-mile radius.

Mimoun and his family operated several bakeries and supermarkets in France and he intends to instill these traditional cooking and baking principles in this new concept.

“In recent years, restaurants have emerged as the primary anchors for shopping centers based on their ability to generate destination-style visitations to the venue,”explained Danielle Beyrodt, Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Hill Management Services. “We are particularly encouraged by the prospects of Croustille Café given the pedigree of the owner and his bakery background honed in France. There will be nothing to compare to this authentic-style of baking in northwest Baltimore County.”
