Program supports 50 non-profit organizations in Baltimore County region

NAIOP Maryland, the local commercial real estate association, has donated a $5,000 gift to support the efforts of the Baltimore County COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund. The program, which aligns with the Baltimore Community Foundation, recently provided support to 50 Baltimore County non-profits. Over the past several months, NAIOP has also provided financial resources to the non-profit groups World Central Kitchen and The Choice Program at University of Maryland Baltimore County.
“When the pandemic hit, it immediately created negative economic and health impact for residents throughout Baltimore County, and this donation will be used for food assistance, devices for counseling services that have gone virtual, as well as to support families with infants that cannot find or afford diapers or formula,” stated Elisabeth Sachs, Director, Government Reform and Strategic Initiatives for Baltimore County.
Established in March by Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski, the stated objectives of the fund were “providing groceries to food-insecure families and seniors, ensuring first responders and public health workers have adequate personal protective equipment, and supporting other things the county is doing to prevent the spread of the virus and support residents.”
“We greatly appreciate the support of NAIOP Maryland and, because the need will likely continue to be there in the foreseeable future, it will be important to raise additional funding,” Sachs added.
“This program is well-conceived and executed and attracted the attention of the NAIOP Maryland Board of Directors because it supports residents where many of our members work and live,” explained Jim Lighthizer, President of NAIOP-MD. “We hope other groups will look closely at the work being accomplished by the Emergency Response Fund and consider supporting their efforts.”
NAIOP Maryland, the local association of NAIOP, has approximately 450 members and represents the interests of the commercial real estate industry throughout the state. The Maryland Chapter is part of the international network of approximately 55 chapters in North America and is comprised of commercial real estate development companies and professionals engaged with affiliated service companies including the architectural, brokerage, construction, interior design and law industries.
