Pessin Katz Law, P.A. (PK Law) and Hopkins IP, LLC (Hopkins IP) entered into a business relationship in which Hopkins IP will provide legal services focused on intellectual property matters to PK Law clients. Julie A. Hopkins formed the intellectual property boutique law firm, Hopkins IP, last year. She brings more than 15 years of direct experience handling trademark, copyright, trade secret and unfair competition matters, as well as handling IP licensing and litigation and will provide these services to PK Law clients.

“This business relationship enables me to assist PK Law clients with a wide range of intellectual property matters, leveraging my experience in this area of law,” explained Julie Hopkins. “Companies across a broad sector of industries, including technology, healthcare, food and fashion, are increasingly in need of intellectual property counsel. The common denominator is the need to achieve protection of their assets and the increasing need to assert and defend rights in those assets.”

Prior to founding Hopkins IP, Ms. Hopkins lead the intellectual property practice group for Tydings & Rosenberg, where she functioned as Practice Chair and Partner, and was an attorney at Womble Bond Dickinson and Venable, among other leading law firms. Ms. Hopkins also serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law where she teaches Trademarks and Unfair Competition Law.

“This relationship with Julie provides PK Law with a dedicated professional that is extremely well-versed in the intellectual property practice area, and further enhances our service offerings,” stated Gregory S. Weiner, Member, PK Law. “We have worked with Julie on multiple occasions and have always been extremely impressed with her attention to detail, work ethic and professionalism. This alliance elevates our intellectual property practice area to a higher level of sophistication.”

“Companies tend to protect their intellectual property and acquire trademarks and patents during good economic times,” Hopkins added. “The current economic climate, with businesses thriving, is a major influence leading organizations to invest in IP. For many start-up companies, intellectual property is its most valuable asset, so it is especially incumbent to take proper protection measures early.”

Pessin Katz Law, P.A. (PK Law) is the ninth largest law firm in the Baltimore area and has been serving clients for over thirty years. PK Law maintains full-service offices in Towson, Columbia, and Bel Air and is comprised of more than 50 lawyers.
