Volunteers of America Chesapeake & Carolinas Announce New Board Members

Volunteers of America Chesapeake & Carolinas today announced it has elected the following six people to the organization’s Board of Directors: Kelly Ennis, Walter Tejada, Nicole Earle, Caleb Jackson, Daniel Wilson and Dayena Corcoran.

Kelly Ennis is the Founding Partner of The Verve Partnership. With her savvy vision, she leads the company’s project oversight & strategic objectives. With over 20 years of experience, Ms. Ennis brings qualitative and quantitative programming, real estate analysis and project management skills to the Board. Additionally, she has solid relationships with clients in diverse industries, including nonprofit, technology and professional services.

A community advocate & former elected official, The Honorable J. Walter Tejada is committed to enhancing the diversity and the region’s community voice. He has been instrumental in convening community stakeholders to address a wide range of issues such as affordable housing, civic engagement & volunteerism, community & economic development, and nonprofit assistance. Mr. Tejada has received many awards for his years of activism and has been recognized for his tireless commitment to creating and preserving affordable housing.

Nicole Earle is the Vice President and Commercial Community Development Officer in The Columbia Bank’s Commercial Community Development Department. In this position, she is responsible for growing the bank’s presence by providing Community Development Lending solutions to affordable housing and commercial developers in underserved communities throughout Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia.

Caleb Jackson currently leads acquisitions for Moschel Capital. He directs a team focused on identifying and acquiring distressed properties for long term investment. Mr. Jackson is also the Founder & CEO of Operation Help the People in Kingston, Jamaica. This organization is the largest youth volunteer nonprofit in Jamaica, with a focus on empowerment and community infrastructure.

Daniel Rutherford Wilson brings a wealth of experience advocating on the federal and state level for diverse low-income communities and advancing public policy goals, community engagement and strategic communications on the executive and legislative levels. Mr. Wilson is currently the Director of Engagement & Advocacy for UnitedHealthcare, where he educates community-based organizations and nonprofit leaders on the importance of partnering with managed care organizations.

A Certified Corrections Executive & retired correctional professional, Dayena Corcoran has a wealth of knowledge related to social issue training, consultation and innovation. Her correctional expertise includes, interacting with community and advisory groups as Commissioner for the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services; policy initiation, recruitment & retention and emergency planning as Correctional Officer to the Assistant Commissioner; institutional operations as Assistant Commissioner; and, managing a 1608-bed medium security male institution as Warden at Maryland Correctional Institution in Jessup, MD.

Volunteers of America Chesapeake & Carolinas President & CEO, Russell K.
