The Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History and Culture is pleased to announce that the Lewis' Board of Directors elected Drew Hawkins as the new Board Chair. Hawkins, CEO and Founder of Edyoucore Sports & Entertainment, began his tenure on June 27, 2019, at the museum’s board meeting. He succeeds Maurice Taylor, Vice President of Academic Outreach and Engagement at Morgan State University, who will remain on the full board of directors.

Additionally, the Lewis' board of directors elected Lyndra Marshall as the new Vice Chair, Ricky Smith as Secretary and Marty King as Treasurer. Marshall is a commissioner of the Maryland Commission of African American History and Culture. Smith is CEO of Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport. King is an attorney at Gorman & Williams.

The museum provides an important role in preserving and promoting Maryland African American history for the city, state and country. While this institution is rich with history, it’s imperative that we grow our permanent collection, curate unique special exhibits and continue to host thought provoking lectures and programs on a host of topics that appeal to all audiences," Hawkins explained. "We are fortunate to have such a unique institution in Baltimore that has the ability to preserve our past while helping shape the future.”
