The Mullan Contracting Company has captured a Merit Award from the Baltimore Chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors for the comprehensive renovation of Tullai Field at St. Paul’s School in Brooklandville, Maryland. The scope of the project, which was completed last year, also involved an addition program to the school’s on-site athletic facility, George L. Mitchell ’44 Stadium.
Since 1952, the educational institution has been serving students from kindergarten through twelfth grade in the Green Spring Valley Historic District in Baltimore County. St. Paul’s School is co-educational through fourth grade but all-boys from fifth through twelfth grade, sharing a campus with St. Paul’s Plus coed Preschool and St. Paul’s School for Girls, grades 5-12.
“Mitchell Stadium blends perfectly with our campus and is a spectacular improvement for our athletes, coaches, and spectators,” said St. Paul’s Headmaster David Faus.
Mullan Contracting constructed a new bleacher section that contains 1,116 seats, a new 418 square foot skybox, separate home and visiting team meeting and locker rooms to both the northern and southern ends of the stadium and storage facilities.
“Tullai Field is an extremely high-use facility and an important part of the local community, so it was important to deliver a quality solution to this renovation and expansion project,” explained Joseph Rode, President of The Mullan Contracting Company. “Our team utilized special measures to assure a safe environment for students, faculty members and visitors throughout the construction process, which is essential for any project that takes place within an educational institution campus. Our company remains active with academic institutions throughout the Central Maryland region.”
