Stephanie Liotta-Atkinson

“In this new role, Stephanie will lead and strengthen our efforts as a national leader in socially responsible development and affordable housing operation.”

MidCity today announced that Stephanie Liotta-Atkinson has joined the company as Executive Vice President of Social Impact and External Affairs. Ms. Liotta-Atkinson will lead the firm’s Social Impact Division, overseeing MidCity’s private impact investment, philanthropy, community development, and corporate responsibility initiatives across the company’s portfolio and development pipeline.

“We are delighted to welcome Stephanie Liotta-Atkinson to MidCity. In this new role, Stephanie will lead and strengthen our efforts as a national leader in socially responsible development and affordable housing operation. MidCity is committed to building on our 50-year legacy of reinvesting in the communities we serve and delivering real-life solutions that respond to the needs of our residents and investors,” said Eugene Ford, Jr., Chairman of MidCity.

MidCity’s Social Impact Division will leverage private investment and corporate philanthropy in partnership with community-based nonprofits, foundations, and government agencies for the benefit of residents at MidCity properties, surrounding communities, and project investors. The Social Impact Division is a natural evolution of the mission of the company and the lifelong work of Eugene Ford, Sr. in providing quality affordable housing and opportunity in the Washington region.

Liotta-Atkinson, an attorney who has worked in real estate development and government, said, “I am thrilled to join the MidCity team, where we are investing in housing as a platform for the advancement of residents and communities. MidCity has a long-standing commitment to affordable housing, and we intend to lead the industry in developing and managing the next generation of service-enriched affordable and mixed income housing.”

Liotta-Atkinson’s initial focus will be on MidCity’s flagship redevelopment of Brookland Manor into RIA, where the firm will redevelop 20 acres in Washington, D.C., into a mixed-income, mixed-use project with 1,800 residential units and up to 181,000 square feet of commercial space. MidCity has committed to retain a 373-unit Section 8 contract, relocate all existing residents on-site during the redevelopment, and make a substantial private investment in social services to support residents through the transition.

Liotta-Atkinson, who serves on the Board of Directors of Habitat for Humanity of Washington, D.C., and the Community Services Foundation, will also lead external affairs, including public-private partnerships, government relations, stakeholder engagement, and corporate communications.
