David N. Pessin, Founding Member of PK Law, recently appeared on Maryland Public Television’s “Your Money & Business” during a segment entitled “Navigating Family Legal Complexities,” with a focus on discussing issues related to blended marriages and wealth preservation. “Many people do not realize that a Maryland law exists whereby a spouse can claim one-third of an estate with children, and one-half of an estate with no children, no matter what the will stipulates,” Pessin explained. He stressed the importance of prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, as well as other pro-active financial planning to avoid legal proceedings with settling an estate.
