“Always be eager to learn,” Alex Kopicki urged a group of NAIOP Maryland Developing Leaders (DL) at a recent dinner event held at Amber, situated on the ground floor of Anthem House, a mixed-use project in Locust Point co-developed by Kopicki’s company in partnership with War Horse Cities and Bozzuto Group. “Real estate offers a conduit to everything in life because it provides places to live, work and move around. Real estate touches and impacts every person and every business.”

Kopicki traced his career, which began in the development division of Manekin, LLC, a full-service commercial real estate company and led him to found Solstice Partners together with partner Jeff Jacobson. The two entrepreneurs also founded Kinglet, a website-based platform that enables solo practitioners and small businesses to locate and lease small office spaces in unused portions of existing companies.

In 2009, Kopicki was chosen as a “National Developing Leader” by NAIOP. Real estate professionals 35 years of age and under are eligible to participate in the DL program, which offers networking, educational and mentorship opportunities.

“It wasn’t many years ago that Alex was a Developing Leader himself, and he has clearly accomplished many amazing things in a short amount of time,” stated Spencer Perry, BB&T and Chair of the NAIOP Maryland Developing Leaders group. “His presentation was eye-opening and enlightening. A major takeaway is that opportunities are out there and available to anyone that has the proper discipline, work ethic and vision.”
