NAIOP Maryland Membership Committee co-chairs Meghan Roy of The MacKenzie Companies and EJ Edelman of Colliers International
Shimon Kanter, Vice President of Acquisitions/Development at Poverni Sheikh Group, a local real estate development company, recently joined NAIOP Maryland as its 450th member. This represents the highest membership total in the history of the local chapter of NAIOP, an international association comprised of professionals working for real estate development organizations and affiliated companies including architectural, accounting, law and brokerage firms.
“As a young professional, I joined NAIOP Maryland to gain access to and network with my peers working within the commercial real estate industry, as well as to learn from its more seasoned members,” Shimon Kanter explained. “When comparing the programming, resources and member make-up of NAIOP Maryland with other real estate groups, this association more closely aligns with my career goals and offers the greatest amount of value.”
The NAIOP Maryland Membership Committee is co-chaired by EJ Edelman of Colliers International and Meghan Roy of The MacKenzie Companies. Vince Bagli of Merritt Properties is President of NAIOP Maryland. Mr. Kanter is part of the Chapter’s Developing Leaders program, which is reserved for professionals 35 years of age or younger, of which Spencer Perry of BBT is Committee Chair.
“Our Developing Leaders program has proven to be a tremendous feeding ground to attract young professionals, nurture them with mentorship programming and then transform them into executives that hold board member and executive positions with the chapter,” stated EJ Edelman of Colliers International. “Shimon fits the exact profile for the type of new members we are working to attract,” added Meghan Roy of The MacKenzie Companies. “He brings a strong educational background and real estate experience to the Chapter, coupled with a focused vision about his career objectives.”
NAIOP is the nation’s leading trade association for developers, owners, investors and other professionals in industrial, office and mixed-use commercial real estate. Comprising 18,000 members in 55 chapters, it provides networking opportunities, educational programs, research on trends and innovations and strong legislative representation.
