Community Bank of the Chesapeake’s Mr. Michael L. Middleton, Chairman of the Board, Inducted Into Maryland Business Hall of Fame

WALDORF, Md., Aug. 08, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Community Bank of the Chesapeake is pleased to announce that Mr. Michael L. Middleton, Chairman of the Board, was recently inducted into the Maryland Chamber of Commerce Maryland Business Hall of Fame. The ceremony was held at the Baltimore Hilton BWI Airport Hotel with Gov. Larry Hogan as the keynote speaker. Mr. Middleton was one of three individuals inducted at this year’s ceremony. Mr. Norman Augustine, Retired Chair & CEO, Lockheed Martin and Ms. Harriet Dopkin, President, The Classic Catering People joined Mr. Middleton in receiving this distinctive honor.

The Maryland Business Hall of Fame was established in 2000 and currently has 50 honorees. Inductees of the Hall of Fame are those that demonstrate and inspire outstanding leadership, as well as impact the community around them.

“I am proud to call Southern Maryland my home,” said Mr. Middleton. “It is where I grew up, raised my family, and helped nurture a community bank for 45 years. I am truly honored to have been inducted into the Business Hall of Fame.”

Mr. Middleton has been recognized for his inspiration and leadership throughout his career. He has received several honors and awards for his individual and organizational service. Mr. Middleton was awarded the Business Philanthropy Award from the Archdiocese of Baltimore in partnership with the Maryland Chamber of Commerce and Baltimore Business Journal. He received the Champion for Women Award presented by the Maryland Bankers Association.

Mr. Middleton joined the bank in 1973. He became President and Chief Executive Officer in 1979. He currently serves as Chairman of the Board and continues to lead the bank in its mission. Mr. Middleton is a graduate from Bellarmine University with a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting. He was awarded a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland.

In his comments, Mr. Middleton credited his career success and that of Community Bank to the incredible support groups that made his vision a reality. He recognized his banking family of directors, management and devoted staff. He spoke of the support and advocacy by his family and the unwavering encouragement and confidence of his wife, Sara.
