An unforgettable evening of French-inspired festivities will be held at Lord Baltimore Hotel’s “Let Us Eat Cake” Bastille Day celebration on Friday, July 14, 2017. Guests will have a chance to experience the best of the hotel’s famed French cuisine, desserts and décor all in one night.
Festivities include a three-course prix fixe dinner, which begins in The French Kitchen and later adjourns to the hotel’s LB Skybar rooftop deck for cake and a champagne toast. For guests who want to enjoy a full night out for the occasion, a special room rate will be offered for $178.90, in commemoration of the year when French revolutionaries stormed the Bastille. The room package will include the prix fixe dinner for two, the cake and champagne toast, as well as keepsake champagne glasses for guests to take home. Additionally, a champagne and cake special for $17.89 per person will be offered to anyone visiting the LB Skybar on July 14.
“French culture is deeply inherent to the hotel’s heritage. Guests from all over the world have been enchanted for nearly 90 years by the building’sFrenchRenaissance style, and now by the classic French fare we offer throughout the hotel’s dining establishments,” said Gene-Michael Addis, general manager of the Lord Baltimore Hotel. “Be it classic favorites like our French onion soup and macarons or seasonal specials such as freshly roasted whole chicken for two, beef bourguignon and Coquilles St. Jacques, this is where Baltimore satisfies a French craving every day of the year. And for Bastille Day, we’ll be going all out to bring the best of France to the table – guests are sure to be filled with a joie de vivre.”
Themed “Let Us Eat Cake” as a tongue-and-cheek tribute to France’s queen of opulence, Marie Antoinette, the event’s “pièce de résistance” will be a five-tiered cake created by Executive Pastry Chef Mary Elizabeth Plavonich, who studied at the acclaimed French Pastry School in Chicago. She will also oversee the design of an artistic cake display in the lobby to delight all guests of the hotel during the week of Bastille Day.
The $53.67 prix fixe dinner served at The French Kitchen will feature some of French cuisine’s most iconic dishes. Reservations are recommended, as is festive summer attire and – weather permitting – powdered wigs (black-tie optional). Dinner will begin at 7:00 pm with the cake cutting planned for 8:30 pm.
