Baltimore’s historic Recreation Pier is officially a luxury hotel.

Representatives from Pendry Hotels and Sagamore Development Company joined Gov. Larry Hogan and Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh at today’s ribbon-cutting ceremony, which marked the official opening of the $60 million, 128-room luxury hotel at 1715 Thames Street in Fells Point.

More than 200 people filled the hotel’s grand ballroom for late morning speeches, and then dignitaries moved out to the street to cut a red ribbon and open the doors.

One principal who was conspicuous by his absence was Under Armour CEO Kevin Plank, whose Sagamore real estate arm led the development team.
