Royal Sonesta Harbor Court Baltimore hotel, located in Baltimore’s beautiful Inner Harbor, today announced the appointment of Steven Horn as director of finance for the property. In his new role, he will be responsible for strategic development and implementation of short and long-term financial forecasts, working with the hotel Director of Sales and Marketing and Director of Revenue to maximize operating revenues monthly and managing the internal team that supports finance, business planning and budgeting, among other duties.
Mr. Horn has over nine years of job experience in the financial arena and started his career in 2008 as an accountant for Sheraton Oceanfront Hotel in Virginia Beach where he was responsible for payroll, accounts payable and receivable, invoicing, purchasing, financial analysis of the property, weekly balances and checks and preparing the hotel for financial audits that complied with company standards as well as the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. From 2010-2011, Mr. Horn worked as an assistant controller at Founders Inn and Spa in Virginia Beach where he assisted with financial forecasting, creating annual operational budgets, maintaining contracts, leases and other legal records and managing cash flow, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and other duties.
Most recently, Mr. Horn worked as Area Controller for Lansdowne Resort and Spa, a comprehensive property including a full service resort, hotel, several restaurants, a spa, golf course and gift shop. In addition to managing all the financial aspects of the complex property, he earned manager of the 4th quarter in 2012 for his excellent work and attention to detail.
Mr. Horn holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy from Norfolk State University and a Masters in Accounting (with an emphasis on controllership) from Old Dominion University.
