Established architectural firm triumphs indesign competitions
Fillat + Architecture announces three industry awards received for their work at 400 East Pratt Street.
The Urban Land Institute District Council of Baltimore received 17 entries and Fillat + Architecture was one of five chosen to receive an award at their annual WaveMaker Awards program.
The National Association of Industrial and Office Parks (NAIOP) Maryland also presented their Awards of Excellence for “Best Mixed-Use” to the firm and The Baltimore Business Journal selected 400 East Pratt Street addition as a finalist for the “Best in Retail” category.
This redevelopment at the base of a Class A Office Building refocuses the primary destination of the Inner Harbor to Pratt Street as a major urban Boulevard. It also creates a fresh, new sophisticated look to a 1970’s era building that is located on the main waterfront Boulevard in Baltimore.
The design presents a new façade that humanizes the street and creates safer, more visible frontage resulting in a greater sense of place, improving leasing and the urban environment.
The second floor is home to Ellin & Tucker, who enjoy a beautiful green roof provided by the addition. The redesign also creates a vegetated bioswale between the sidewalk and the street. Both the green roof and bioswale promote the well-being of flora and faunain a vastly concrete downtown area.
