Chesapeake Real Estate Group (CREG) supported Helping Up Mission, a Baltimore City-based non-profit organization that works with men fighting addiction and homelessness, recently by assisting with the serving of lunch to nearly 500 men currently engaged with the program. The team from CREG toured the facility on 1029 E. Baltimore Street, listened to the story from one individual concerning how Helping Up Mission turned his life in a positive direction, and met with Jim Longenecker, Sr. Philanthropy Officer.
“I successfully ruined my life by indulging with drugs and alcohol and I have two small children,” Spencer S. explained. “This program has provided the opportunity for me to slow down, focus and figure out what the problems are in my life. For the first six weeks, I had no contact from the outside world. I am well on the road to recovery.”
“This was a powerful experience for us,” explained Jim Lighthizer, Principal of Chesapeake Real Estate Group. “This facility is extremely impressive and well-run, and they are making a significant difference for people of need in Baltimore City. Engaging with the men and hearing their stories was heartfelt and made a meaningful impact.”
“There are many ways to support our mission,” explained Jim Longenecker. “This includes volunteering, donating essential supplies and clothing, sponsoring a specific program and, of course, giving money. I would encourage anyone interested to visit our website and the ‘ways to give link,’” he added.
