
Hampden is getting a brand new, two-level sports bar starting next week.
The Five and Dime Ale House at 901 W. 36th Street will be officially opening on Monday, Oct. 17, as first reported by the Sun. The owners have built the new bar inside the old G.C. Murphy five and dime space. While the property has transformed significantly, co-owner Donald Kelly said his team has tried to make sure their establishment fits the old space in the quirky neighborhood.
“We think the locals are gonna be happy with it,” Kelly said on Thursday. “We wanted to connect to the community and preserve the authenticity of the building.”
