Real estate brokerage gives back to local communities for 19th annual event
Thousands of real estate agents and employees with Long & Foster Real Estate, including those at the Severna Park sales office in Severna Park, Maryland, rolled up their sleeves and took part in the company’s 19th annual Community Service Day held in June. Long & Foster’s Community Service Day, which was observed companywide on June 8, takes place at its over 220 locations throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast, including its headquarters in Chantilly, Virginia. The annual event provides an opportunity for Long & Foster agents and staff to give back to their communities through a variety of service projects, including food drives, park clean-ups and more.
The Severna Park office chose to volunteer with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation’s Oyster Restoration Facility on June 15. Agents and staff from the office, and even some of their family members, performed a variety of activities including sorting materials used in building oyster reefs, setting forms for the beginning of construction of reefs and building cages for the oyster gardening program for growing oysters. Their efforts were created and constructed alongside the organization’s volunteers’ docks throughout the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries. Long & Foster volunteers shoveled oysters into a number of large steel cages for boat transport and spreading in bay tributaries and filled, packed and fastened dozens of bags of oysters.
