Baltimore County Board Votes Down Hunt Valley Baptist Church Expansion

The Farm in Question (via Valleys Planning Council)

Plans for a new location of Hunt Valley Baptist Church were stopped this week.

According to the Baltimore Sun, the Baltimore County Appeals Board voted to overturn a special exception that would have given the church permission to build a 30,000 sq. ft. church on Shawan Rd. The Valleys Planning Council, who is opposing what they are calling a “mega church,” characterized the decision as a “huge victory.”

The church, which is currently located on Cuba Rd., wants to build a 1,000 seat church that also includes classrooms, gyms and a 105-ft. spire on a 17-acre farm that is visible from I-83.
