Nova-Habitat Wins Approval for 16 Townhomes in Chevy Chase

7/7/16

The Montgomery County Planning Board recently approved a 16-unit townhouse community adjacent to Rock Creek Park that is to be known as “Creekside of Chevy Chase.”

Ed Novak and Damon Orobona of Nova-Habitat, the developers of the project, began the assemblage and redevelopment of the property over two years ago by successfully obtaining the first rezoning under Montgomery County’s new zoning ordinance.  The 1.4 acre property was rezoned to allow 16 luxury townhomes on a site comprised today of four aging, single-family detached homes.  The site is located adjacent to Rock Creek Park and in close proximity to the employment centers of downtown Bethesda and the National Institutes of Health (NIH).  The Montgomery County Planning Board, in approving the project, lauded it as a great example of trail-oriented development that takes advantage of Montgomery County’s award-winning parkland amenities offered by Rock Creek Park and the Capital Crescent Trail.  The project will include an informational gazebo and covered shelter with bicycle repair equipment welcoming bikers and pedestrians traveling along Kensington Parkway into Rock Creek Park.

Creekside of Chevy Chase is walking and biking distance to Chevy Chase Lake, an area that has huge transformations in the pipeline.  Among the coming changes to the area are the Purple Line, which will connect Chevy Chase to Bethesda and College Park via a 16-mile light rail line, along with up to 1,300 residential units and 500,000 square feet of office and retail space proposed by EYA, Bozzuto, the Chevy Chase Land Company, among others.

Since 1992, a reputation for excellence in design and a dedication to the built environment has made Nova-Habitat an award-winning real estate development company in the Washington, DC metropolitan region.  Nova-Habitat primarily focuses on mixed use, multifamily, townhouse, and senior housing and assisted living projects in urban or town center environments.
