Richard M. Hassett

OWINGS MILLS, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Today, Integra ServiceConnect, a leading provider of community-based engagement and support services to underserved and difficult-to-reach individuals with complex health needs, announced the appointment of Richard “Rick” M. Hassett, MD, as Chief Executive Officer effective July 6, 2016. Michael Yuhas, the company’s founder and former CEO, will continue to serve on the company’s Board and assume the role of Chairman.

“We are thrilled to welcome Rick to the company. He joins IntegraServiceConnect during a particularly exciting period of growth, as the health care industry increasingly appreciates the importance of social determinants in driving health outcomes,” said Yuhas. “Bringing Rick aboard at this time represents the natural next step in IntegraServiceConnect’s evolution and is the culmination of a thoughtful succession planning process undertaken by the Board last year. With his background as a practicing physician, Rick is especially well qualified to understand and articulate the critical interdependencies between the non-clinical and clinical interventions that influence health statuses and outcomes. We are fortunate to have Rick join this organization given his unique industry insights and demonstrated experience helping companies translate great ideas into operational and commercial success. We look forward to the company’s continued growth and success under Rick’s leadership.”

After starting his career as a full-time academic neurologist, Rick spent ten years in multispecialty group practice. For the last 20 years, Rick has held leadership positions across numerous successful technology-enabled healthcare services companies. Most recently, Rick served as an Executive in Residence at Warburg Pincus, a global private equity company. Previously, he was CEO of NovaSom, the nation’s leading home sleep test (HST) provider and the only freestanding HST provider recognized by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. Under Rick’s leadership, NovaSom obtained FDA clearance for the first and only wireless HST device and cloud-based connected health platform. Earlier, Rick held the Chief Strategic Officer and President posts at Matria Healthcare, a NASDAQ-traded healthcare firm. At Matria, Rick steered the company through multiple successful strategic transactions and transformed Matria from a healthcare holding company into an industry-leading, $350 million revenue outcome-driven health and productivity enhancement operating company, prior to the company’s 2008 acquisition by Inverness Medical.

“I am thrilled to join Integra ServiceConnect and grateful to the board and our investors for this opportunity,” said Hassett. “In years past, as a practicing physician and later as an executive in leading care and population health providers, it became obvious that innovative approaches were needed to improve the way we find, engage and connect patients to available medical and social services. This is especially true amongst the neediest populations, in which patients’ social circumstances and behavioral health challenges combine to produce suboptimal clinical outcomes for patients and cost-prohibitive outcomes for payers. As our healthcare system transforms from fee-for-service to fee-for-value, IntegraServiceConnect is partnering with payers and risk-bearing providers to find patients, especially the hardest-to-find patients, and engaging them as partners in their own care, successfully connecting these individuals to the social and clinical services they need to live healthier, more productive lives. The company is displacing the myth that a meaningful proportion of members with high costs and poor health can never be reached. I’m thrilled to lead a talented team of people that are dedicated to improving care through expanded access and engagement.”

Integra ServiceConnect connects people to services that improve their health. Specializing in community-based, non-clinical support for individuals with healthcare and related social service needs, the Owings Mills, Maryland-based company helps health plans, health systems, and government payers find, engage, and connect underserved members to the social and healthcare services they require to improve their health. Integra ServiceConnect has provided community-based services for individuals with complex healthcare needs for more than two decades. Learn more at www.integraserviceconnect.com.
