Pendry Hotels, the fledgling lifestyle brand created by Montage Hotels & Resorts founder/ceo Alan Fuerstman and his son, Michael, has unveiled plans for its second locale. Slated to open in early 2017 in the restored Recreation Pier building in Baltimore’s waterfront Fells Point neighborhood will be the 128-key Sagamore Pendry Baltimore.

Pendry’s partners on the project are Sagamore Development Co., the development enterprise of Under Armour founder and ceo Kevin Plank, and War Horse LLC, which is owned by Plank’s brother and former Under Armour executive, Scott.

The conversion of the Recreation Pier building is being overseen by BHC Architects, with interiors by Patrick Sutton Design. Project backers note that Fells Point once served as the second largest point of entry into the United States, only surpassed by Ellis Island. Recreation Pier, originally built in 1914, was previously a dance hall and social gathering hub for early 20th- century Baltimore immigrants.
