Marla Clendenin and Madeline Caldwell
Baltimore-based 212 Communications announced the addition of two partners, according to company co-founder Erica Mechlinski.
Madeline Caldwell, center in photo, joins as Managing Partner after serving as marketing director for DuClaw Brewing Co. While with DuClaw, she helped steer the mid-sized craft brewery through industry expansion and marketing innovations, including Diablo Doughnuts’ Lizzo-inspired Sour Me Unicorn Farts beer collaboration.
Prior to DuClaw, Caldwell’s stops in Charm City included TBC, Abel Communications and Sheppard Pratt Health System, where she was PR manager.
Mechlinski also announced that Marla Clendenin, left in photo, was promoted to Creative Partner to reflect her growing responsibilities within 212. A 2017 Loyola University Maryland grad, she joined the agency as assistant AE that year and with intern experience that included Kate Spade New York.
Mechlinski, right in photo, left Weber Shandwick’s Baltimore office in 2013 to co-found 212 Communications with a vision, in her words, “to build something different, meaningful and modern. To work harder on the things that mattered, and drop the things that didn’t…to work with good people doing good in our world, a team and clients who ‘give a sh*t.'”
The agency also welcomed recent Morgan State grad, Eryn Johnson, as intern.
In a related announcement, DuClaw Brewing has promoted Rachel Bradley to marketing manager. In her new role, she will lead the central marketing team to oversee strategy, craft seasonal campaigns and continue to support the development of creative assets.
In her previous role as social media manager and photographer, Bradley successfully grew DuClaw’s social audience and strengthened customer relations through organic outreach, e-mail campaigns, paid ads, and consistently analyzed marketing data to refine strategy.
Working with Caldwell at DuClaw, Bradley has been a part of several locally and nationally recognized awards. In June 2020, the American Marketing Association of Baltimore awarded DuClaw with the Grand MX Award for Campaign of the Year award for their Diablo Doughnuts’ Lizzo-inspired Sour Me Unicorn Farts beer collaboration. Bradley was the lead photographer, and captured the winning shot in Graffiti Alley. She is also credited with winning the Craft Beer Marketing People’s Choice Award for Most #FOMO Instagram Account.
