Arnold Farmer, Audit Manager, SC&H Group
Earlier this fall, Special Olympics Maryland welcomed Arnold Farmer to their board of directors. Farmer is an audit manager for SC&H Group, a leading management consulting, audit, and tax firm.
As a Maryland CPA for the past seven years, Farmer has gained valuable experience in public accounting, while primarily focusing on audit, review, and compilation services for mid-sized business across various industries. At SC&H Group, he manages multiple teams while simultaneously working closely with the audit department’s internship program to recruit, mentor, and train emerging professionals. He is also credited with co-founding the firm’s internal Diversity & Inclusion Committee. Farmer earned his degree in accounting from Towson University, where he played football, served as Towson Accountability Program (TAPS) Captain from 2011-2013 and got his start volunteering for Special Olympics Maryland.
“To me, it is more critical than ever for our communities to have equal opportunities to support their physical and emotional health through sports,” said Arnold Farmer. “It’s an honor to be a part of an organization that proves that life, and accessible activity, should not be limited by disability.”
Special Olympics Maryland provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. As community supporters, SC&H Group featured a team of 30 employees who participated in the Special Olympics’ annual Corporate Plunge earlier this year, while also deploying its Data Analytics team to provide live analytics for all of the corporate plunge teams to showcase the top donors/organizations and the industries driving the most contributions.
“We are excited by the addition of Arnold’s experience and expertise to the Board of Directors as he will play an important role on our Finance committee,” said Jim Schmutz, President and CEO of Special Olympics Maryland. “I expect Arnold’s passion for sport combined with his commitment to our 8,716 Special Olympics Maryland Athletes will contribute greatly in our efforts to achieve our vision of having 25,000 athletes by 2025.”
Special Olympics Maryland recently celebrated their 50th Anniversary with the goal of raising $10 million in new revenue while simultaneously delivering 150,000 inclusion experiences through the end of 2023.
