Whitmore to focus on customer discovery and market analysis for Early Charm portfolio companies

Early Charm Ventures, a venture studio that converts science to business, today announced the hiring of Beth Whitmore as an Associate for Early Charm’s growing portfolio of companies.

Whitmore, who has an academic background in the biomedical sciences, will drive customer discovery and market analysis across Early Charm’s portfolio of companies, which cover four industry sectors: drug design, custom materials, aquaculture technologies and machine vision.

Whitmore holds a BS in Medical Biology from the University of New England and is set to complete her PhD in Biomedical Science this year with a Concentration in Computational Molecular Biophysics from the University of Maine Graduate School of Biomedical Science and Engineering. Her graduate work has involved using computational methods to study the structure, conformation and thermodynamics of small biomolecules.

During her graduate career, Whitmore developed an interest in business and technology commercialization. In February 2020, she completed the Johns Hopkins University Innovation Corps training program where she gained key insights into the world of business in science.

"Beth has that rare balance of scientific expertise, strong communications skills and experience doing customer discovery that makes her an exceptional hire for us,” said Ken Malone, Managing Director with Early Charm.
