Hungry Harvest Secures $7.25M Series A Financing Led by Creadev

3/15/20

Hungry Harvest, the pioneer in farm to doorstep rescued produce delivery, today announced a Series A raise of $7.25 million. Creadev, a global private equity investment firm controlled by the Mulliez family, led the investment round with participation from existing and new investors Desert Bloom. Delphine Descamps, Creadev USA’s Managing Director and Hans Taparia, Desert Bloom Co-Founder will join Hungry Harvest’s Board of Directors.

“I started this business to make an impact in the food space,” says Evan Lutz, CEO & Founder of Hungry Harvest. “This funding enables us to scale our deliveries of farm fresh produce in existing and new territories, aggressively execute our product roadmap with a focus on enhancing every customer’s experience and accelerate the growth of our social mission to transform the food system.”

Hungry Harvest rescues fresh fruits and vegetables that would otherwise go to waste due to grower surplus or arbitrary, cosmetic standards for size, shape or color at retail. They curate variety boxes of this produce and deliver it directly to subscribers’ homes using a team of local drivers. Every delivery eliminates food waste, ensures farmers receive a fair wage for their full harvest and supports donations to hunger-solving organizations. All Harvests are customizable and can be supplemented with waste-fighting grocery staples, pantry items and snacks from the Hungry Harvest Marketplace.

“Creadev is pleased to support Hungry Harvest in its aim to fight against food waste and hunger, providing healthy fresh produce directly from farm to consumer in a convenient and more affordable way. This investment fits into Creadev Innovation’s Food & Agriculture strategy of supporting cutting edge Food & Ag start-ups in plant based, aquaculture and food chain segments with a long-term focus”, said Delphine Descamps.

The series A financing builds on Hungry Harvest’s success in growing a profitable business while simultaneously creating positive impact in reducing food waste and fighting food insecurity. Since 2014, Hungry Harvest has reduced over 20 million pounds of food waste and donated or subsidized over 1.5 million pounds of produce to partner organizations and their own food access program, Produce in a SNAP.
