Mount St. Joe Runners Motivated To Set The Bar

For many members of the Mount St. Joseph indoor track team, the day of this year's Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association "A" conference championship meet was circled on their calendars. That day, Jan. 27, 2017, represented the opportunity to compete for a league championship, which the Gaels have a greater appreciation for than most.

Last year, the championship meet was scheduled for a day when Baltimore was still feeling the effects of Winter Storm Jonas. Mount St. Joe canceled all school activities, and with the meet not getting rescheduled, it meant the Gaels, who tied with Gilman as the league's regular-season champions, wouldn't have the opportunity to compete for the MIAA title.

The Gaels took full advantage of that opportunity this year though, scoring 120.33 points to win the league championship, narrowly besting second-place Gilman, which accrued 113.
