CBRE Healthcare Marks Milestone With Topping Out Of Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital Research & Education Building

On Friday, February 17, CBRE Healthcare celebrated the “Topping Out” of Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital the new Education & Research Building as the final beam was raised. The new facility designed by HDR, is being constructed by Skanska and managed by CBRE Healthcare.

With construction kicking off in early 2016 to help further expand Johns Hopkins All Children’s research mission and strengthen collaborative research across multiple areas of pediatric medicine, the $95.5 million 225,000 square foot facility will provide an educational center for pediatric resident physicians and fellows. Connected to the Outpatient Care Center by an enclosed air conditioned bridge, the new building will include a simulation lab for clinical teaching, collaborative environments for research, and space to promote free exchange of knowledge and findings. Also included are laboratories for bench and translational research, designated areas for shared support and research cores to promote collaboration.

During the Topping Out ceremony, each attendee signed a beam that was then hoisted into place. This beam marks the structure completion. The signatures symbolize each individual’s support and contributions to the project. Hospital employees, community members, and the project team members attended the event. 

Construction is targeted for completion in mid-2018.
